What to Expect at Sunday Service

What Happens at Service?
NYCBC is located at 685 Sheppard Avenue East (on Sheppard between Bayview and Leslie). The English Speaking Congregation (ESC) meets every Sunday at 9:15am in the 685 main sanctuary located on the 1st floor.

During each service, we spend time in corporate worship, prayer and scripture reading. In addition, one of our pastors (or special guest) will deliver a sermon. On occasion, there will be special programming (e.g. baptisms, commissioning, dedications, etc.). Our approach to worship is based on our biblical understanding that worship is for God by the gathered people of God. Therefore, we encourage everyone to join us in-person on Sundays.

Family Worship at the ESC
We welcome families to include their children in our Sunday morning Worship, whether for part of the time (e.g., worship in song), or for its entirety. We provide nursery and toddler programs, which may be more suitable for the younger children during the sermon.

We also have programs for children and youth on Sundays!

Fellowship Time (After Service)
After Sunday service, we invite everyone to join us upstairs in the 2nd floor gym for a time of fellowship over coffee, tea and light refreshments. It is a great opportunity to connect with members within our community and get to know each other a bit more.

Underground Parking is available in all three levels and is free on Sundays. Please take note of any designated spots (e.g. for families, seniors, newcomers and registered tandem parking, etc.).

  • If you are new here, we are glad you are thinking of joining us. On Sundays, look for anyone wearing a white tag with “Usher” or “Welcome”. They would be happy to share more information and welcome you to our church. If you would like to speak to someone outside of Sundays, please reach out to us through this form Connect With Us or reach out directly to one of our ESC pastors (Pastor Richard or Pastor James).

  • No, we do not have a formal dress code. As this is a place of worship, we do ask that your dress appropriately and be considerate of others.

  • Our service starts at 9:15am and generally runs for 90 minutes. Following service, there is a time for fellowship in the 2nd floor gym from 10:45am to about 11:15am.

  • We invite you to join us in-person each Sunday for worship service. We understand that sometimes attending in-person is not possible and so if you require arrangements to watch the service online, please reach out to one of our ESC Pastors (Pastor Richard - richard.choy@nycbc.ca or Pastor James - james.lam@nycbc.ca). Please note, we ask that you request it at least 48 hours before the next Sunday service . Thank you and we are looking forward to worshipping with you in person!

  • There is underground parking at our church. You can park on any of the three underground floors. Please take note of spots that are designated for registered tandem parking, families, seniors or handicapped persons. If you are a regular attendee, consider applying for a tandem parking spot with a fellow brother or sister to allow for additional parking for our first-time visitors and guests.
