Ministry Description 事工簡介

Mission: Influencing the next-generation to love God and to love their neighbours; Through the equipping and the support of families with Biblical teaching and mutual peer encouragement. Striving to be Christ like in our love for little children.

Vision: Family Ministries seeks to fulfill Christ’s command to make disciples through: building a community of families who honour God, cultivating their desire to learn about Biblical Truths and to discover their gifts and talents that have been given to them by God in order to reach out to the world in which God has placed them.

Goals

  • Serving with a team approach to the overall development of families and the young lives through relational ministry

  • Cultivating a cross-cultural, cross-generational environment to serve the families of NYCBC

Areas of Ministry

Junior Church Coordinator (1)

  • To co-work with the Family Ministry Pastor and Children Ministry Assistant to provide and assess teaching material as appropriate for children worship, to recruit, schedule and evaluate teachers, helpers and worship leaders. Children

Sunday School Coordinator (1)

  • To co-work with the Family Ministry Pastor and Children Ministry Assistant to provide and assess teaching material appropriate for the children, to recruit, schedule and evaluate teachers for the 8 classes from JK to Gr 6.

Toddler & Nursery Coordinator (1)

  • To recruit and schedule teachers and helpers during Sunday worship times, to ensure that the room is appropriate to provide care, in consultation with the Family Ministry Pastor and Children Ministry Assistant, to provide teaching materials to prepare toddlers for receiving biblical teaching when they reach the age of attending Children Sunday School.

  • To schedule helpers to look after children during Sunday worship times, to ensure that the equipment and environment are appropriate to provide care.

ESC Fellowships Coordinator (1)

  • Works closely with the Family Ministry Pastor and Youth Ministry Assistant to develop and provide meaningful peer support and ministry to meet the needs of the various fellowship groups. (Gideon - Jr. High, Gilead - Sr. High, Benjamin - University/College).

Youth Sunday School Coordinator (1)

  • Works closely with the Family Ministry Pastor and Youth Ministry Assistant in coordinating & administering the Sunday School Curriculum, and to train & recruit teachers for the various grades.

CSC Fellowships Coordinator (1)

  • Works closely with the Family Ministry Pastor to develop and provide meaningful peer support and ministry to meet the needs of the various Cantonese-speaking. fellowship groups.

MSC Care Coordinator (1)

  • Works closely with the Family Ministry Pastor to develop and provide meaningful peer support and ministry to meet the needs of the various Mandarin-speaking fellowship groups.

Parental Partnership (1)

  • Supporting and partnering with parents to raise the younger generations to be godly men and women.

  • Engaging with parent’s needs across all the congregations.

Special projects (1)

  • To plan and implement children/youth-related programs that will help in expanding the child’s Christian horizon.

Administration (1)

  • Working closely with the Family Ministry Pastor in coordinating policies and guidelines relating to Family Ministry. As well as being part of the FM Administration Team to help with the logistics of FM programs and events.

2024 Ministry Report 事工報告 (Children Ministry)

1. The goals of the ministry group for the Year 2025

  • Students: To continue fostering the start or deepening of each child’s relationship with God through Bible lessons (head knowledge and heart knowledge), corporate worship on Sunday, and relationship building between students with students and students with volunteers (seeing and practising Christ lived out).

  • Volunteers: To refocus on volunteers this year on establishing a stronger sense of community by building relationships to encourage, grow in our individual walks with Christ, and check in on each other to manage energy levels/prevent burnout.

  • Families: Continuing to drive the message that Children Ministry is not a daycare/babysitting service on Sundays but an age-appropriate ministry that helps families in raising their children in the ways of our Lord; that children starting as early as babies and toddlers can begin to learn about God and have a living relationship with Him.

3. The results and some forward-looking sharing

  • Full-time Children Minister (Christie Dang) and Part-time Assistant (Estella Fung) hired onto Children Ministry!! Christie teams up well with the existing CM Committee in engaging with the students and volunteers not only in actions but in prayer and thoughtfulness of how to build everyone up in a way that’s manageable. Estella’s focus on administrative help has significantly aided the CM Committee with the heavy administration required to run the ministry from student registration to volunteer status to supply management.

  • CM will be operating on Sundays and plan various events throughout the year with the students, families, and community in mind:

    • 9:15am session - Nursery/Toddler/Gr1-3 Sunday School

    • 11:15am session - Nursery/Toddler/JK-Gr6 Sunday School

    • Special event Sundays such as Easter, Gr6 Graduation, connecting Gr6 and their families with the Youth and Family Ministry, Fellowship classes, Christmas, etc.

    • Summer - VBS and special Sunday School summer term

    • Fall - Fall Fun Festival

1. 2024 年度事工組的目標

  • 兒童主日學學生：透過聖經課程（頭腦與心靈知識）、每週日的集體敬拜，以及學生之間和學生與老師之間的關係建立，繼續培養及深化每個孩子與上帝的關係，從而見證並實踐基督的生命。

  • 義工：今年重新聚焦於義工團隊之建立，透過強化彼此關係，加強隊工及團隊歸屬感。鼓勵互助精神，重視各人對信仰生命成長之追求。加強關顧以便更有效調整各人工作量，從而避免部份組員因事奉過勞導致靈命疲憊。 

  • 家庭：持續強調兒童事工並非週日之托兒或看護服務，而是針對各年齡層兒童所需以協助各家庭建立以基督為核心之專屬事工。幫助家庭按著主的教導來養育孩子；從嬰兒和幼兒開始，孩子們就可以開始學習關於上帝的知識，並與祂建立具生命力的關係。

3. 成果及一點前瞻分享點

  • 全職兒童事工傳道 (Christie Dang) 及兼職助理 (Estella Fung) 已加入兒童事工團隊。Christie與現有之兒童事工委員會合作密切，不僅在事工之執行上，更藉禱告及鼓勵反思，以可行方式加強兒童與導師和義工團隊之間的彼此建立與成長。Estella專注協助行政工作，大大提升了兒童事工委員會處理有關學生註冊、義工資料及物資管理等繁重行政工作的效率。

  • 兒童事工於每週日運作，並計劃全年針對學生、家庭及社區不同需要舉辦各類活動：

  • 9:15am：嬰兒/幼兒/1-3年級主日學

  • 11:15am：嬰兒/幼兒/初小-6年級主日學

  • 特別活動主日，如復活節、6年級畢業典禮、6年級學生及其家庭與青少年及家庭事工連結活動、團契活動、聖誕慶祝會等

  • 夏季：暑期聖經日營 (VBS) 及特別主日學暑期班

  • 秋季 - 秋季繽紛樂（Fall Fun Festival）
