55-Days Devotional Journey - Day 25
June 25, 2025 (Wednesday)
Scripture:
"Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble. And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me greet you. All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar's household. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit."
Philippians 4:14–23 (ESV)
Reflection:
Paul deeply appreciated the Philippians' generosity—not only because they supported him in his hardship but because their giving reflected a heart transformed by the gospel. Their partnership in the mission wasn't just financial: it was spiritual, a "fragrant offering" that honoured God.
At NYCBC, we give thanks for a similar spirit of generosity. Our church has faithfully supported missionaries and international workers worldwide for many years. This commitment to the global mission of God shows a mature faith that values eternal fruit over temporary gain. NYCBC has also shown love and respect for pastors and leaders, recognizing that gospel work requires mutual encouragement and support.
Paul reminds us that when we give to God's mission, we participate in His redemptive work. And the promise is clear: God will supply every need, not always according to our expectations, but according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
As we continue to give and serve generously, we do so knowing that every offering made in love, every act of support toward those God has called, is deeply pleasing to Him.
Reflection Question:
How can NYCBC continue to grow in joyful generosity toward missionaries and gospel work, trusting that God will supply every need?
Prayer:
Gracious Father, thank You for the privilege of partnering in Your mission. Thank You for NYCBC's generosity toward missionaries and love for those who serve in ministry. Help us continue to give with joyful hearts, trusting in Your faithful provision. Let every offering we give be a fragrant sacrifice to You, and let Your name be glorified through our generosity. In Jesus' name, Amen.
