Day 8 – June 8, 2025
55-day Devotional Journey – Day 8
Scripture:
“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
Philippians 2:1-4 (ESV)
Reflection:
In this Scripture, Paul calls believers to live in unity through humility, love, and selflessness. This unity is not built on human effort alone but flows from our shared experience of Christ’s love and grace. In His deep love, God did not remain distant but came to us in the humble form of Christ, revealing true love and offering salvation. As recipients of this love, we are called to reflect it—by valuing others above ourselves, putting aside pride, and looking to the needs of those around us.
Such a life begins with our connection to Christ. Only when we are rooted in Him can we genuinely care for others with His love. This is the heart of Christian unity: a community shaped not by personal agendas, but by the self-giving love of Jesus.
As we follow this call, may we become a living testimony to God’s presence—showing the world what it means to live with humility, compassion, and Christlike love.
Reflection Questions:
How can I practice humility and genuine love in my relationships with fellow believers in my church community? Do others see the character of Christ reflected in the way I live and relate to them each day?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for placing me in the church family at NYCBC. I pray that Your Holy Spirit would continue to guide me in living a life of humility, shaped by the love and kindness You have so graciously shown through Christ. Teach me to reflect Your unconditional and selfless love in my words, actions, and relationships. In Jesus’ precious name I pray,
Amen.
